TALKIE WEB APP FOR PHONES
TALKIE on your home screen. Nothing to install.
Pin TALKIE to the home screen of your iPhone or Android phone: it opens full screen with its own icon, like an app, and
tells you about new messages, also while it is closed.
iPhone with iOS 16.4 or newer · Android with Chrome · free · sign in with your SPKR HQ account
iPhone (Safari)
- Open hq.sp3akr.com/talkie in Safari. It has to be Safari: only Safari can add it to the home screen.
- Tap Share (the square with the arrow up, at the bottom), scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
- Open TALKIE from its new icon and sign in. When TALKIE asks for notices, tap Allow: the iPhone only sends notices to TALKIE opened from the home screen.
Android (Chrome)
- Open hq.sp3akr.com/talkie in Chrome.
- Tap the menu (the three dots, top right), then Add to Home screen or Install app. TALKIE also shows an Install button bottom left when Chrome offers it.
- Open TALKIE from its icon, sign in and tap Allow when it asks for notices.
What you get
🔔
Notices for new messages
Direct messages, friend requests and invites arrive as notices, also while TALKIE is closed. Set yourself to Busy (tap your picture) and they come in without a sound.
🔆
The screen stays on in a voice room
While you are in a voice room your phone does not lock itself. Leave the room and it locks as usual again.
📱
Full screen, its own icon
No browser bars: servers, chat rooms, voice rooms and your friends, the same account as in SPKR HQ on your PC.
Good to know: on an iPhone a voice room stops when you switch to another app or lock the phone yourself, because
the iPhone pauses web apps in the background. On Android the TALKIE app keeps a voice room going with the screen off.
